[...] The night before, we had an option to send our packs on ahead to the next Minchuku (hotel), and hike more easily. Or at least, a little lighter. The problem was the timing. We’d gotten to our Minchuku a little late that day and in order to get the packs sent ahead, we’d have to get up at 5am, walk down a couple miles to the train, send them ahead, and then after hiking the mountain, hike a few miles past that night’s hotel to the train station to pick them up. We decided it was too much of a pain and didn’t do it. I think part of that was my stupid idea. Then again, I think the extra walking would have been worse (for me) than the extra weight.
Olympics coverage has gotten worse each year, and with NBC spreading coverage over it's various networks and affiliates, it gets even more aggravating - especially when you try and find out a schedule. At this point I'm just watching the nightly NBC coverage, and not worrying about anything else - most news organizations will have the results, and even some of the clips.

Really cool that Nastia Luikin and Shawn Johnson went 1 / 2 in the individual all-around.

The more I read or year about your perceptions of this place, its people, and its culture and meaning, the more I want to go there and experience it myself. You have a way of inspiring people to want to do the things that you're doing. I love the words you choose.

(snicker) Cute comic. Looks like how I felt when that squirrel jumped out at me in the furnace room years ago - gets your heart going for a moment.
One of the neighborhood cats has been coming up on to our outer deck the past few nights, so our three have been hissing and spitting at it through the screen... at 1 in the morning.

Subject line content filters I use-

"*drug*"
"*acrobat*"
"*loan*"
"*download*"
"*debt*"
"*viagra*"
"*vicodin*"
"*Cialis*"
"*Pharmaceutical*"
"*orgasm*"
"*SEXUAL*"
"*photoshop*"
"*fuck*"
"*credit*"

Also I filter at the server, not the email application. This allows me to filter on the connect header line, which is far more effective.

Connect header filters:

"HELO -1*"
"HELO 1*"
"HELO 65.28.44.33"
"*212.78.85.54*"

Other than the usual "male enhancements", updates from Dell (we've never owned one) and mortgage news? Anything purporting to be from the IRS can be incredibly suspect, but I assume SpamAssassin catches most of that stuff. Between Norton's and Thunderbird, we really don't get much spam here.

Hah, hah, hah, hah, hah. *blows raspberry* (that’s per Lily Tomlin in 9 to 5)

Pfft. Lily Tomlin was blowing raspberries way before that. Try Edith-Ann in The Electric Company.
