Email Subjects that I block
I’ve been perfecting the art of a spamfilter on the ipstenu and jorjafox servers for about 10 years now. To that end, I’ve come up with a list of emails that I don’t want, and thus, are turfed before I ever read them:
If your subject line contains any of the following, I will never see it:
- (Id:
- Auslaend
- Key
- Time Share
- {Filename?}
- {Virus?}
Key was a weird one and is only on JFO, as it was getting GIGS of spam a week with that subject line.
I also block all emails with GIFs, anything from the .ru domain (I don’t hate the Russians, I got 50+ spam in a week and SpamAssassin wasn’t catching it), and anything from the asswipe who called me to demand to know why JFO wasn’t updating with why Jorja Fox had left CSI… Seriously. If he calls again, I’m sic’ing the police on him for harassment.
Anyone else have standard FOAD email subjects?

Other than the usual “male enhancements”, updates from Dell (we’ve never owned one) and mortgage news? Anything purporting to be from the IRS can be incredibly suspect, but I assume SpamAssassin catches most of that stuff. Between Norton’s and Thunderbird, we really don’t get much spam here.

Subject line content filters I use-
“*drug*”
“*acrobat*”
“*loan*”
“*download*”
“*debt*”
“*viagra*”
“*vicodin*”
“*Cialis*”
“*Pharmaceutical*”
“*orgasm*”
“*SEXUAL*”
“*photoshop*”
“*fuck*”
“*credit*”
“*success*”
Also I filter at the server, not the email application. This allows me to filter on the connect header line, which is far more effective.
Connect header filters:
“HELO -1*”
“HELO 1*”
“HELO 65.28.44.33″
“*212.78.85.54*”
“*fairgamemail*”
