Premise
Living over a Chicago bar, watch the merry madcap antics of a recovering alcoholic and his call girl roommate. He’s a drop out Ivy Leaguer! She’s a collegiate call girl! Wackiness ensues!
Main Cast
Hartford “Beck” Beckenson
20-something male, former Ivy League chump who dropped out with only a year to go in his degree. Beck has just left some frippy Ivy League place (Harvard, whatever) because he spent four years drinking and doing what his parents told him to. He didn’t want to be a lawyer anyway. For a year, Beck lied to his parents about still being in school, and they kept sending him the checks for university. At the end of the year, when the school asked his parents if Beck’s ’sabbatical’ was over, the jig was up. Taking the money he saved, Beck bailed for Chicago for no reason other than his parents didn’t like it. The only place Beck can find to rent is a room above a karaoke bar somewhere near Wrigley Field/Boys Town, and his roommate? A Call Girl named Juniper.
Juniper Marie East
20-something female, has been renting herself out to older men as a dinner date (no sex!) since she was 21, in order to pay the bills.
Juniper’s a Chicago girl, been there all her life and has no desire to move elsewhere. She’s in Community College, working toward a Sociology degree so she can be a social worker. Her parents live in the city and visit. Since the parents couldn’t afford college, Juniper had to take a few jobs to pay it off, but hit on pay dirt her second year. As a Call Girl, Juniper never sleeps with her customers, but she does escort men around Chicago and gets well paid for it. Her former roommates were the Man Whores, whom she detested and was rather glad to get rid of. The fact that Beck showed up right when she needed a roommate was perfect for her, even if he is a bit of a knob.
